Country’s Power Grid Suddenly Collapses | Patriotic Post (patrioticpost.com)

(PatrioticPost.com)- As the country’s power grid continues to collapse despite planned power outages by the state-run power company Eskom, which provides 90% of the country’s power, lasting up to 12 hours, South Africa has declared a national state of disaster.

The National Disaster Management Center (NDMC) declared a national state of disaster to avoid the potential progression to a total blackout and consider the possibility of augmenting existing measures already undertaken by the state to deal with electricity supply constraints.

“Reports reveal that despite the domestic abundance of coal, the country’s power utility Eskom has proven unable to supply adequate and dependable energy to its grid due to its extreme inefficiency, incompetence, and corruption.

Eksom, once one of Africa’s most dependable utilities, is now always in a state of emergency. They added a high energy tariff to help support its failing finances.”

  2. Quoting from the article:

“A report shows South Africa received $497 million from the World Bank in 2022 to shut down its biggest coal power plant and convert it to a renewable energy source.

At the US-Africa Business Forum, Joe Biden announced a plan for American taxpayers to spend at least $8 billion to close down successful coal-fired energy plants in South Africa so they can be replaced with far less successful and far less efficient green energy alternatives.”
