DOJ Warns Court To Expect Hundreds More Indictments Over January 6 | The Daily Wire (www.dailywire.com)

The Department of Justice (DOJ) could indict more than 1,000 additional people on charges related to the January 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol.

The DOJ sent a letter to Chief Judge Beryl Howell of the District Court for the District of Columbia on October 28 warning that the court should prepare for another 700 to 1,200 defendants, according to Bloomberg, which reviewed the letter and first reported it Wednesday. At the time, the DOJ had filed charges against roughly 900 people.

The number of DOJ arrests has since risen to roughly 1,000. The department’s estimate of the remaining cases corresponds roughly with the number of individuals that officials have estimated entered the U.S. Capitol during the riot, somewhere between 2,000 to 2,500 people.
